2009-05-06: Vector interface hardware now compatible with RP1210 applications

Commercial vehicle developers can now use the new RP1210 programming interface with Vector interface hardware to access the CAN bus or J1708 bus. The RP1210 API can be used together with Vector’s XL hardware interfaces and VN7600 as well as related bus transceivers. It also supports the higher layer protocols J1939 and J1587. Use of the RP1210 interface standard is widespread in the USA, where diagnostic tools in the commercial vehicle service field are typically based on it.

In the ECU development field, a key advantage of the Vector RP1210 implementation is that it lets you operate RP1210-based applications in parallel with any Vector tool, e.g. CANalyzer and CANoe. As a result, a single interface hardware can be used to execute all applications and simultaneously analyze or stimulate the network.

The RP1210 interface standard was defined by the Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) of the American Trucking Association, Inc. (ATA) and has become established in the USA as an open standard for accessing commercial vehicle networks. A broad assortment of tools is available, primarily for the service field.
